This book is for people who want to understand how AC drives (also known as inverter drives) work and how they are used in industry by showing mainly the practical design and application of drives. The key principles of power electronics are described and presented in a simple way, as are the basics of both DC and AC motors. The different parts of an AC drive are explained, together with the theoretical background and the practical design issues such as cooling and protection. An important part of the book gives details of the features and functions often found in AC drives and gives practical advice on how and where to use these. Also described is future drive technology, including a matrix inverter. The mathematics is kept to an essential minimum. 50 maal 'elektronica van vroeger'. In het januarinummer 2005 van het elektronica-maandblad Elektor zag de rubriek 'Retrotronica' voor het eerst het licht. Onder supervisie van Elektor-redacteur Jan Buiting wordt sindsdien elke maand een stukje 'elektronica van vroeger' opgerakeld. Tegenwoordig worden de meeste elektronische schakelingen opgebouwd rond een microcontroller die het 'denkwerk' voor zijn rekening neemt. Nog niet zo heel lang geleden echter bestonden die dingen nog niet (of waren ze onbetaalbaar); niettemin slaagden de ontwerpers van toen er (naar huidige maatstaven) verbijsterend goed in om uiterst betrouwbaar en nauwkeurig werkende schakelingen en apparatuur te bouwen. Veel apparaten blijken, na jaren op een stoffige zolder of in een vochtige kelder te hebben gestaan, na een schoonmaakactie nog perfect te functioneren -- er is dus geen reden om de 'elektronica van vroeger' met een meewarige blik te bekijken; integendeel: het zijn vaak wondertjes van vernuft en vakmanschap! In dit boek hebben we 50 bijdragen uit de rubriek 'Retrotronica' voor u gebundeld - een must voor iedereen die geïnteresseerd is in 'oude' elektronica of in de geschiedenis van het maandblad Elektor (destijds Elektuur), aangezien enkele 'klassieke' Elektuur-schakelingen prominent aan bod komen!

Fliegen ist wohl einer der ältesten Träume der Menschheit. Multikopter boomen. 2015 wurden drei Mal so viele verkauft wie 2014. Multikopter beeindrucken auch durch eine Technologie, die es vor zehn Jahren noch nicht gab (oder die damals unbezahlbar war). Die Akkus, der Flugcontroller, die Stabilisierung, die Kameras bis hin zu den Motoren, das sind alles neue Produkte und Technologien! Und diese entwickeln sich überdies sehr schnell weiter. In dieser Zeitschrift lesen Sie, wie Sie Ihren Multikopter mit der neuesten Technik aufrüsten können oder wie Sie gar einen Multikopter kaufen, der seiner Zeit voraus ist. Multikopterträume sind auch Träume von Anwendungen, die vor ein paar Jahren kaum vorstellbar waren. Es ist wie bei der Einführung des PCs in den achtziger Jahren: Wir ahnen noch nicht einmal, wie die Welt morgen aussehen wird. A Combat Guide against E-waste and Throwawayism This book is for anyone who enjoys tinkering with analog and digital hardware electronics. Regardless of the sophistication of your workspace, only basic tools are required to achieve truly satisfying results. It is intended as a reference guide among other hardware repair publications you may have in your library. However, the book goes a step further than most other repair guides in addressing issues in the modern era of discarded electronics called e-waste. E-waste should be put to good use. Producing anything new requires not just precious resources and labor, but also energy to make and deliver it to global retail shelves. Your talents and love of electronics can be put to good use by rescuing and resurrecting at least selected units from this endless stream of e-waste. Examples include either restoring through repair, or salvaging reusable electronic and mechanical components for your next project. Smart tips are provided throughout the book, and much information is tabulated for easy reference. The book expands age-old repair and hacking techniques applied for repair on the workbench into clever methods and applications to achieve effective results with discarded or “non-servicable” electronic consumer products.
