Hi there

Sorry for the English, but I heard the dutch forum was better to answer questions on RS232 communication with the Profiler.

I need to know if someone has tried to use RS232 commands, since when I write to the machine, thousands of ')' (HEX 0x29) are transmitted back and nothing else is happening.

Does anyone have a sample ASCII file that can be transmitted directly through RS232 to control the machine?

Hello,

since there are two different types of the controllers on the marker, you first have to tell which controller are you using. Is this the Robby controller or the PB3D (PB2D).

Well, i don't think that it makes sence that I try to explain everything that is already written in the manual.

What I need to point out are the first few pages of the manual. They explain the operating modes. When the controller starts up it is in the Local mode. you have to switch to "Line" of "File" mode before you can acctualy start sending the commands.

In the documentation are all the escape sequences that allow you to swap between the modes.

By sending a command in the mode where this command is not intended for the controller will start responding back with certain command (don't know exactly anymore) if it really goes bad you can have some garbage.

So I'll need to transmit the command
"ESC" LM: "CR"
same as ASCII
1B 4C 4D 3A 0D
to go from local to "Mode 2 : HPGL Line" before proceeding with the commands and no strange commands will be transmitted back?

I tried that, but the error is still there, any ideas?

The first command usually works after hardware reset

MD:

but then no responds is received for the next command

LM:

After 3 attempts to send the command line, a

UC:

is received. That is strange

The escape sequence that I used were:

Local to file --> #27 FM: #13#26
Local to line -- > #27 LM: #13#26

Also note that if you are in file mode and you want to go to line mode you first have to go to local mode and then to line mode.

i don't know what language you use to program your software?

Anyway, make sure you end all the commands with #13#26!

I tried your escape commands, but nothing is happening. If I first try to use ColiDrive to startup the Profiler, and monitor the commands being send to the Profiler, they are alike - but they are transmitted a lot of times.

Maybe some initialization is needed, before the LM: command
