Hi all,

For some projects it can be convenient to move the head of the mill not with the mouse.

Most of you know Lukas Sudar's solution with a Logitech (cordless) keypad.

Demo here: http://www.sudar.ch/download/0326e79a170d8610d/index.html

Yesterday I visited Pieter Verhees (alias Vebo here) and he did it even more "futuristic":

With a wireless game controller ! (but a more conventional joystick will do the job too).
See attached picture.

Most of you will see the "un-usual-*not*-Colidrive-screen" (besides the well shaped hands (nice for a milling stl file) of the miller himself ....

It's our Profiler working with the Belgian "Benny board", placed on top of the Profiler power board and working with the G-Code: Mach3 software.

It seems to work gracefully and is than full 3D.

Sorry: Written in English because there are foreign readers here (greetings !).

Hessel

Hi Hessel,

Little update...
This is the right link to my reports of the conversion to Benny Croonen's card. http://www.elektor.nl/forum/forum/actuele-projecten/g-code-via-parallelle-poort-3d-met-de-profiler.431887.lynkx

Also check
http://www.elektor.nl/forum/forum/actuele-projecten/profiler-en-linux.494755.lynkx for some pictures of a project I recently did with this setup. (sorry Dutch, but with pictures)

The Profiler is now running full 3D based on Emc2 (linux) and Bennys card.

I use Vectric Cut2D and Cut3D to create toolpaths in g-code.
Very good and user friendly software. You should check the demo.
Vectric told me they have postprocessors for hpgl of the profiler. Because of the 3D shortcomings of the profiler hardware Cut3D doesn't work perfect but Cut2D does. Check its great possibilities to create easy drawings in the program itself...

Lots of milling fun...

Pieter
